On the front line in NHS battle

LORD Hunt of Kings Heath, the former councillor who became a Labour peer, quit his job as a health minister in opposition to the Iraq war.

Earlier this month he got his old job back and is busy explaining the Government's health policy in the House of Lords.

But perhaps the new post is Tony Blair's way of getting revenge. He put Lord Hunt back in charge of health just as a particularly controversial bill was introduced.

The Mental Health Bill would allow people with mental illnesses to be detained even if they have committed no crime.

Peers don't like it and they are determined to defeat the government over it. Lord Hunt has been sent into the firing line.
