Wisdom of youth

Gisela Stuart

THE Young People's Parliament, based in Millennium Point in Birmingham, can be as daunting for politicians as the real thing in Westminster.

MP Gisela Stuart (Lab Edgbaston) thought she faced a challenge when she took part in a discussion on why young people should get involved with politics.

But one student got the biggest cheer of the night by announcing that Gisela and other professional politicians thought young people didn't care - and it was time to prove them wrong.

Ms Stuart said: "She made it sound so simple. I think we have something to learn about the way we talk to young people."
