Marathon man makes Commons plea

IT'S not unusual for staff to ask their colleagues to sponsor them when they take part in charitable events.

The House of Commons is no exception. Daniel Kawczynski (Con Shrewsbury and Atcham) is running the London Marathon in aid of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

So he got up in the Commons and told MPs: "I am not particularly fit, but I hope to finish the 26 miles and raise as much money as possible.

"If anyone wants to sponsor me, I should be grateful."
