Tribute to planning chief

Les Kyles

SOLIHULL councillor Les Kyles, the borough's planning chair, was remembered in the House of Commons following his death recently.

MP Caroline Spelman (Con Meriden) had been granted a rare opportunity to present her own legislation - in this case, measures making it harder for developers to build blocks of flats where residents didn't want them.

The debate took place on the same day as the funeral. She told MPs: "I wish to dedicate this Bill to the memory of Coun Les Kyles, as a mark of respect."
