Drinking is a Commons problem
THE government is concerned about binge-drinking, but the Commons has seen more than its fair share of drunkenness.
One veteran political journalist spilled the beans in an article for The House Magazine, edited by Birmingham MP Gisela Stuart - naming the worst offenders as journalists.
"I have seen people carried out of the Press Bar in deep comas. In fact, on one occasion the coma was so profound that not an ambulance but a hearse arrived.
"Happily, a slight mistake had been made and consciousness was restored by a vigilant official."
