Hemming strikes up the one-man band again

John Hemming

ONE of the highlights of the year for Yardley MP John Hemming is Birmingham's annual St Patrick's Day parade, in which he plays the guitar.

The song he plays most often is It's a Long Way to Tipperary, but the Lib Dem MP has an admission to make - he only performs it once a year so when the parade comes round again, he has forgotten how it goes.

He said: "By the end of the parade I normally suffer a bit in my fingers, but can remember the chords. It then takes me a year to forget them before the next parade."
