A question of sexuality

THERE was a storm of controversy when the government decided that the 2001 census should include a question on religion.

Now MPs are calling for the next census in 2011, to include a question on sexuality.

Every one of us would be asked to tick a box confirming whether we are heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual.

MPs calling for the information to be collected include Solihull MP Lorely Burt (Lib Dem).

She argues the statistics would help determine whether equality legislation was working.
