Blooming election's ruined the garden!

ALTHOUGH the House of Commons reconvened this week after the Easter holidays, many MPs will be busy in their constituencies campaigning for the local elections.

Gisela Stuart (Lab Edgbaston) admits that the regular local government polls have taken their toll - on her garden.

She says: "When I first stood for election the photographer came round to my house to take pictures for the election address.

"He looked at the blooming spring garden and asked 'Do you want me to take a picture of this too? It will never look the same again you know. I didn't understand the point he was making then - I do now!

"Every spring the garden has to compete with campaigning for local elections."
