Struggling to get the message out there

COUNCIL candidates are finding it harder to get their message out to the voters this year because of the ban on sticking posters on lampposts in Birmingham.

This is a cause for concern for Labour's Eleanor Cohen, chair of the party's Ladywood branch.

She is calling for a little public funding to help council candidates publish leaflets to tell voters what they are all about: "Voters need to know who's standing and what they represent."

MP Khalid Mahmood (Lab Perry Barr) shares her concerns: "I think the lack of posters might reduce awareness of the election."
