Fair deal for England call
BIRMINGHAM MP Liam Byrne (Lab Hodge Hill) has warned of disastrous consequences for England if the English turn their backs on the union with Scotland.
His comments reflect fears that the Scottish Nationalist Party could do well in this week's Scottish elections.
But English national feeling is also growing. MPs and Peers have now founded the St George's Day All Party Parliamentary Group to give England a fairer crack of the whip.
Black Country MP John Spellar (Lab Warley) is vice-president. The group says it aims to "promote the 23rd April as an annual celebration of England and the country's Patron Saint."
