Tory Rwanda trip is worthwhile

TORY leader David Cameron has come under fire for visiting Rwanda while his Oxfordshire constituency struggles to cope with floods.

The visit to the east African country, where at least 500,000 people were murdered in genocidal conflicts, was organised by Birmingham MP Andrew Mitchell (Con Sutton Coldfield), the Shadow International Development Secretary, who is also there.

But it's more than just a sightseeing tour. Everyone taking part has been donating their time to local community and voluntary projects in the country.

They include Maggie Throup, Tory candidate for Solihull, a businesswoman who has been advising the Rwandan tourism industry.

She reports: "One of our project members has been training volunteer football coaches. This will, in turn, help the thousands of children who currently use a football made from paper and string.

"Of course, the children insisted that I joined in their makeshift game Ð something I just couldnÕt refuse and really enjoyed."
