Haw's 'still an eyesore'

Brian Haw

TALK about broken promises. Home Secretaries and other cabinet ministers have repeatedly promised to get rid of Brian Haw, the Redditch carpenter who has become a full-time protester living outside the Commons.

From Parliament Square, a roundabout opposite Parliament, where he lives in a tent Mr Haw shouts abuse at MPs through a megaphone.

But while politicians have been and gone, Mr Haw remains - despite special laws being passed to end his protests.

Staffordshire MP Sir Patrick Cormack (Con South Staffordshire) summed up the attitude of many MPs when he complained: "We now have more of an eyesore than ever."
