GORDON Brown has signed the controversial European Treaty, but opponents of ever-closer-union with our European brothers are continuing the fight.

Mike Nattrass, one of our West Midlands MEPs, explains how they have slowed down proceedings in the European Parliament in Brussels.

Apparently, he and his colleagues in UKIP, the political party which backs British independence, have been demanding that votes are taken using the Parliament's state-of-the-art electronic system, in which MEPs press a button to say which side they support.

It's actually much slower than the traditional method of voting - in which MEPs simply stick their hands in the air.
