Loneliness of a Euro rebel

IS GISELA Stuart feeling the heat?

The Edgbaston MP has become an unlikely rebel on the Labour benches as she demands a referendum on the controversial EU Treaty.

The Edgbaston MP admits: "I have learned a lot on the process - not least what happens when you vote against your own side.

"I don't much like it, but sometimes you just have to stick to your guns."

However, although she has diligently taken part in House of Commons debates on the issue, she is not certain they do much good, she admits.

"Three days of debates on Europe... many hours in the chamber, but for all the difference it makes we might as well be reading out the telephone directory."
