Jacqui: I’m so sorry
Oct 14 2009 By Jon Walker
REDDITCH MP Jacqui Smith, the former Home Secretary, offered a quick apology to the House of Commons over her expenses claims this week – but only after making a short speech claiming, in so many words, that she hadn’t really done much wrong.
She concluded by saying: “I want to say sorry, too, to my constituents. They are my No 1 priority and for too long, this investigation has overshadowed the work I do for them.” Ms Smith (Lab) will defend a majority of 2,716 at the next election in a key Tory target seat.
