I'M NOT pious, but I can't join in the mirth of the thieving classes in Hull who found a faulty cash machine in a supermarket.

This hole-in-the-wall started spitting out twice the amount asked for. Immediately a long queue formed and shoppers filled their boots with stolen cash, doubtless thanking their good fortune.

I find this shabby behaviour depressing. Many of those who indulged would hesitate to steal from a home or a shop. But what's the difference?
