Not ready for Perry

I MUST admit I thought Question Time on BBC1 was pulling our legs when David Dimbleby introduced Claire Perry as a panel guest.

Wearing a greenish-blonde wig and a blue Bo-Peep dress, Claire sat beside Tory Shadow Security Spokesman Dame Pauline Neville-Jones and spoke in a very deep, very unClaire-like voice.

Apparently he/she is the well-known potter Grayson Perry, curator of an exhibition at Bexhillon-Sea, whence the programme came.

I like to think I am open-minded but this particular transvestite ruined the programme by his weird appearance.

I don't think the British will ever be sophisticated enough not to double-take at cross-dressers.

And that's not a bad thing.
