A lesson for freeloading teachers

THE week’s most gratifying picture showed a rag-bag of Staffordshire teachers taking their bags off the coach that was to have taken them to the airport.

These chancers’ head, Richard Mercer, had arranged a four-day trip to Marbella as a “training session”.

It was parental indignation that nipped this in the bud. Quite rightly, mums and dads decided the Gang of 80 could have their sessions at home at Edensor Technology College, Longton, Staffs.

Richard Mercer, who had to cancel this jolly at the last moment, has been taught a valuable lesson: people power will always beat the skiving looking to fill their boots of freebies.
