Gazza’s ex isn’t helping the cause

Maureen Messent

I THINK I’d prefer sozzled, incoherent and unlettered Paul Gascoigne to his venomous ex-wife, Sharon.

With a beady eye on making money, she’s written – with a lot of help, I suspect – a book on her years as Paul’s one-time battered wife.

In this, she brands him a sexual abuser who insisted on sex 10 times a day.

“I’d say ‘No’ but he wouldn’t stop,”, she told one newspaper.

Then, barely believably, she adds that she stopped sleeping with him only in 2003, five years AFTER their divorce.

This chisel-faced bottle-blonde, you’ll note, still uses Gascoigne’s name, as do her son and daughter from her previous marriage: the latter, especially, is prone to falling out of nightclubs and is photographed solely because she’s Bianca Gascoigne.

Mrs Gascoigne purports her book will help other abused women.

Far from it. She adds to the unfortunate scepticism surrounding ill-used: they are seen as whingeing victims too feeble to help themselves.

This silly woman adds to this ill-conceived notion.
