REMEMBER Cameron’s Big Society, in which we were to adopt brotherhood and strive for a better world?
Sounded good at the time to us liberals, a frontier-free plan to help us realise we’re all equal in man’s brotherhood.
Forget it. Cameron’s reneged.
Lost his nerve in the face of Brits – whose ancestors lived off cash generated by plundering Africa and Asia – shouting brotherhood be beggared, keep the cash at home.
Which left the boy David in a pickle.
Somehow he had to placate the non-aiders but appear highly principled.
So who’s losing out? The poverty-stricken of Uganda, Ghana and Malawi, all nations outlawing homosexuality.
Cameron’s legerdemain is almost politically criminal. Rather than appearing to weaken at British demands to cut overseas aid, he’s purporting to be gay champion by punishing oppressively anti-homosexual nations.
Stinking hypocrisy.
