Traffic madness at tip

BIRMINGHAM'S Lifford Lane refuse tip is an accident waiting to happen.

At peak times, congestion has become so severe outside the Kings Norton site that motorists have taken to driving down the middle of the road to avoid the queues.

With any two-way flow of cars this would be risky but on Lifford Lane, which has a steep incline, it's crazy.

Drivers are simply driving blind as they negotiate the brow of the hill and I'm astonished there hasn't been a serious head-on crash.

I note that Sandwell Council has recently installed a webcam at its Shidas Lane Recycling Centre in Oldbury so that local residents can avoid the queues.

Maybe Birmingham should take a tip from the Black Country.
