It's none of our business

APPARENTLY, a soldier split up with his pretty girlfriend last weekend.

For some bizarre reason, this simple everyday story of love gone wrong was front page news in the tabloids and even led the bulletins on the Radio 4's flagship Today programme.

Can somebody please tell me why? Okay, so the squaddie in question was Prince William and the babe was the extremely photogenic Kate Middleton.

But it's not as though Wills is next in line for the throne. He's just a lad who one day might become an important figure in public life.

Even then, do we really care so much about the Royals that we have to probe and pry into the minute details of their private lives?

It was that kind of nosy, intrusive behaviour that killed Princess Diana - and now seems to have helped destroy her son's relationship.
