Big noise debate for Digbeth

THE Stirrer Summit to discuss the future of Digbeth takes places tonight – and all Birmingham Mail readers are welcome to attend.

It's at the Spotted Dog pub in Alcester Street, which has been served with a noise abatement order following complaints from residents in the nearby Abacus Apartments. We'll be hearing from all sides in a dispute which could help shape the future of one of the city's liveliest districts, with councillors from the planning and licensing departments to explain the official view.

There's pressure from the city council to regenerate the area to meet housing targets, but many long time residents fear the new developments will end up silencing Digbeth's thriving club and pub scene.

It promises to be a lively event and starts at 7.45pm, when Spotted Dog landlord John Tighe promises to crack open a bottle of his specially made "Keep Digbeth Noisy" wine.
