The price of integrity

The Stirrer

SPARE a thought for weary Edgbaston MP Gisela Stuart, currently facing the wrath of the Labour leadership.

Her crime? Demanding a referendum on the new European Treaty, as promised by the party at the last election.

Okay, so technically their manifesto referred to a Constitution, not a Treaty, but the Edgbaston MP isn't fooled by a bit of verbal trickery - and neither are the rest of us.

The truth is that Britain is once again handing over more powers to Brussels, and Stuart thinks we should all have a say on it.

Hmmm. A politician who keeps her word. No wonder she's in trouble.
