READERS of this column were warned months ago about the "gobstopper Gestapo" trying to stop cinema-goers taking their own sweets and snacks into the movies.

Now the national media have woken up to the scandal after security guards ordered postman Adam Glennon to leave his local Cineworld in Stockport for eating contraband goodies.

Adam retaliated by handing free sweets to passers-by outside.

It was a good stunt, but there's only one way to make these rip-off merchants know you're serious - fill up before you go in, or better still, boycott them altogether.
