Derby Reserves 0 Villa Reserves 6

WAYNE Routledge struck a superb volley on his Villa debut but later limped off with a foot injury as the reserves hit Derby for six.

The £1.5million signing drilled a first-time strike into the top-left corner of Ben Hinchliffe's goal after 17 minutes to make it 2-0 to Villa, following James Collins' early opener.

Sandwiched between the goals was Derby full-back Jason Beardsley's red card for a lunge on Eric Lund.

Nathan Delfounso made it 3-0 early in the second half and a late flurry of goals from Mark Albrighton, Nathan Baker and Andreas Weimann cemented Villa's place at the top of the Premier Reserve League South.

The only negative, on a cold night at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium, came when Routledge hobbled off after 77 minutes.

He caught his foot in the netting while chasing a second goal although it may have been a precaution.

VILLA: Taylor, Hogg, Lund, Lichaj, Baker, Osbourne, Routledge (Hofbauer 77mins), Salifou, Delfounso (Weimann 72mins), Collins (Albrighton 72mins), Bannan. Not used: Bellon, Bevan.
