Neville: I can make Villa great again

Michael Neville

MICHAEL Neville has revealed his desire "to make Villa great again".

Lifelong Villa fan Neville is believed to be behind a consortium planning a takeover of the club alongside the well-publicised interest of American tycoon Randy Lerner.

Despite his initial interest involving the Comer Brothers coming to nothing, Neville remains confident he can obtain the backing to be able to meet Ellis' financial demands.

He said: "We are working hard to get this bid done. I believe I have backers. This is an exciting prospect, the result of a year's work.

"We are still progressing with the bid and one way or another, for the good of everyone, it has to happen in the next few days."

But many observers feel that Lerner has the financial clout to outbid Neville.
