Young happy to have England pal at Villa

ENGLAND Under-21 star Ashley Young today hailed the arrival of former team-mate Scott Carson as "an excellent acquisition".

The pair were both central figures in this summer's European Under-21 Championships in Holland.

Young has not been surprised by Carson's swift elevation in the game and believes he will prove a major asset for Villa.

"I've played with Scott for the England Under-21s and he's a really good keeper," he said. "It's great to see he's come to the club which can only be good for us.

"He's really good - he's an excellent shotstopper, his vocal presence is there. He's got it all in the bag. If he didn't have those qualities he wouldn't have made it with the England Under-21s and been with the senior squad as well.

"You have to look at how far he's come and, with a track record like that, he can only be good for us."
