O'Neill expecting a busy week at Villa

Martin O'Neill

ASTON Villa boss Martin O'Neill has vowed to continue his search for reinforcements after wrapping up the £3.5million signing of Fulham defender Zat Knight today.

O'Neill expressed his delight with the strength of his squad after a much-changed line-up cruised into the Carling Cup third round at the expense of League Two Wrexham.

But he insists the capture of Knight will be just the start of a frantic week of transfer activity as he looks to bring in more players before the window snaps shut.

O'Neill said: "We are looking to strengthen the squad. That is what we expect to do between now and Friday evening. We think we are able to do so.

"Last season we were not a position to make six changes to our team but we could do that this year and I am very, very pleased to have avoided a potential banana skin."
