Moore still unsure over new Aston Villa deal

VILLA striker Luke Moore has revealed he is no closer to reaching an agreement over a new contract.

The 21-year-old has just seven months remaining on the three-year deal he signed in June 2005, although Martin O'Neill has spoken in the recent past of the club holding a further year's option.

"We've spoken but these things just take time, it's natural. There's nothing imminent. What will be, will be," said a philosophical Moore today as he vowed not to let the stalemate affect his game.

"I don't like to think about it too much - I just like to let the people who are dealing with it, deal with it.

"I've been here since I was eight-years-old and I'm a fan so I want to see the club move forward - regardless of whether I'm here or not.

"I haven't got time to be worrying about these things because there are more important things in life."

Moore says the supporters should not be overly worried by his lack of progress over a new deal.

"They should just get behind the team," he added. "For the fans, they should be pleased the club is moving forward.

"We're having a good season and that's what I'm concentrating on. I want to play my part this season and push this club on in trying to get us as high up the table as possible so we can finally say we're back where we should be.

"Then, next year we can push on again."

Middlesbrough had an interest in Moore last summer but the striker is playing that down.

He added: "I know I was linked with a move to Middlesbrough last summer, but I'm still here, so I don't know.

"I've been linked with a few clubs and until something happens, I can't really say anything about it."
