New signings will raise our game - Gabriel Agbonlahor

IN-FORM striker Gabriel Agbonlahor says he can't wait for Martin O'Neill to open up his January chequebook.

Agbonlahor, like every one of the supporters, is eagerly anticipating some transfer arrivals in the New Year to bolster Villa's flagging numbers and help them achieve their lofty goals.

"As things stand now we have a really good squad but the manager will be looking to strengthen in certain areas and give us more squad depth," said Agbonlahor.

The forward line is certainly one area O'Neill has been looking to strengthen.

Agbonlahor added: "There has been talk of strikers and midfielders and it can only keep people on their toes.

"Everyone has to fight for their place. But I think everyone is up for that. I don't think anyone is going to let their place go lightly.

"It is always good when new players arrive, It can raise everyone's game."
