Transfer no-man's-land for Villa's Thomas Sorensen

Thomas Sorensen

THOMAS Sorensen faces being frozen out of a move in the January transfer market - because no one has come in for him.

The Danish international, who is one of Villa's top earners, held talks with Derby County but their manager, Paul Jewell, decided to look elsewhere.

Villa are unwilling to let him go out on loan because his contract ends in the summer. They want some recompense for the outlay of his salary and Sorensen, who revealed recently he has also turned down a move to Germany, is thought to be none too pleased at the size of the fee.

But with no clubs having even enquired, Sorensen - who has not played at all this season and has only made the bench once after pulling a thigh muscle in a pre-season friendly in Toronto - faces the prospect of no football until the summer.

Martin O'Neill said: "No-one has asked about him."
