Martin O'Neill: European dream is still alive

Martin O'Neill

MARTIN O'Neill has insisted Aston Villa's European hopes are still alive despite their 4-0 hammering at Manchester United.

He said: "We have to win our own particular league, which we are not out of yet. We have a lot of work to do. But with six games remaining we are capable of getting back into it.

"We had a lot of possession against United but they were really brilliant. They have been in these situations many times - in the Champions League quarter-finals and going for the title.

"Their enthusiasm, determination and ability are there for all to see. They are a class side, no question of that. Many teams would have struggled like we did.

"We have real distance to go, we know that. That (United's level) is what we have to aspire to."
