ASHLEY Young paid tribute to Stiliyan Petrov after his wonder goal at Derby.

"Stiliyan's goal was fantastic,'' said the winger. "I was really pleased he scored because he has been superb in the last two games.

"I thought we played some really good football. The confidence is certainly high at the moment and I think the positive football we played against Derby followed on from the result against Bolton."

Young notched his sixth goal of the season and first since his opener at Reading in February.

"I was actually surprised to see my free-kick fly in because I thought someone else was going to get a touch - not that I am complaining,'' he said.

"Derby started quite well and looked okay. But the second goal was the killer, coming so quickly after the opener. It gave us some breathing space.

"I was pleased for John Carew but I didn't see the ball go in. I was too busy trying to get out of the way of his fierce shot."
