Vote is a gift for Gabriel Agbonlahor

Gabriel Agbonlahor

GABRIEL Agbonlahor said his nomination for PFA Young Player of the Year spurred him on at Pride Park.

Agbonlahor netted his ninth of the season in the 6-0 rout.

"That nomination gave me a real lift - no question,'' he said. "It is voted for by your peers and that means an enormous amount to me.

"To be recognised by your fellow players is a real achievement."

He is up against team-mate Ashley Young, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and Micah Richards for the prestigious award.

"Ashley has also been nominated and rightly so because he has been superb this season. It's a real boost for the club to have two people nominated," added Agbonlahor.
