No decision until end of the season over Scott Carson, says Martin O'Neill

SCOTT Carson will be kept in the dark about his Villa future until after the final game of the season at West Ham.

Martin O’Neill says there has still been no contact between the club and Liverpool, although he admits that the on-loan shot-stopper would probably now want to be told where he stands.

Hardly a week goes by without Villa- who tried to sign Brad Guzan in January and are set to try again in the summer - being linked to a keeper.

O’Neill says the speculation is only natural.

“We have him until the end of the season and when we talked about it in the first place there was no decisions going to be made one way or the other until the end of the season.

“Now of course if somebody does very well, then there is talk about: ‘Can you hurry this on?’, and if he is not doing so cleverly there is:‘well, what are you doing about it?’.

“I have to say it is probably a natural question for people to ask me, but an unnatural one to answer.

“I will wait until the end of the season. Liverpool are heavily involved now in competitions.

“So we will wait and then all parties will sit down and make decisions.

“Liverpool have not come on the phone and asking: “What are you doing?”, and I have not got onto them and said: “What are you thinking?”. We are prepared to leave it.

“Obviously, with all the hullabuloo surrounding Liverpool at the moment over everything, I would have been surprised if they were sitting down to having a discussion.

“So at the end of the season we wil decide- all of us.

“I haven’t relayed anything to Scott either way. I speak to his agent pretty regularly about things, he always asks how Scott is doing.

“Scott will be given that viewpoint - but I suppose he would like to hear it from a manager.”
