Confused Gabby Agbonlahor will do a job for England

Gabriel Agbonlahor

GABBY Agbonlahor has questioned his inclusion in Stuart Pearce's England Under-21 squad for tonight's friendly against Wales at Wrexham.

The Villa striker has also been included in Fabio Capello's senior squad for the Wembley friendly with the USA on May 28 and the trip to Trinidad and Tobago four days later.

He joins Theo Walcott and Joe Hart, who are also included in tonight's squad. Agbonlahor has joined Arsenal's Theo Walcott and the inexperienced duo of QPR's Dexter Blackstock and Hull's Frazier Campbell as the strikers for tonight.

Only Walcott (14 caps), Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart (11 caps) and midfielder Mark Noble of West Ham (10 caps) have more experience than Agbonlahor at this level.

"I don't really understand it," Agbonlahor said of his inclusion. "But as I have been picked for that squad I will just go there and do a job."

Agbonlahor has a chance to stake a claim for a first senior cap as he joins Villa team-mates Gareth Barry and Ashley Young in a squad containing a host of big-name forwards including Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Dean Ashton.

He added: "You never know what's going to happen or how people think.

"You only have to look at Jermaine Defoe - he scored six goals in six games and and he didn't even get into the squad (for Capello's f irst game) against Switzerland.

"And as I'm put into the Under-21s for a game, I have just got to accept it, do a job and wait for my chance. It's Wales and hopefully I will get a few chances to score."
