New Wilfred Bouma deal is imminent, says Martin O'Neill

Wilfred Bouma

MARTIN O'Neill has confirmed that Wilfred Bouma will have his future secured in the very near future.

The Dutch international - an ever-present in the league last season - will be handed a one or two year deal to add to the one year extension the club have already admitted they are taking up.

It will mean Bouma will be at the club until at least the summer of 2010.

Bouma is currently away with the Dutch squad as they preare for the Euro 2008 Finals.

Villa boss O'Neill said: "He joined up with the Dutch squad relatively quickly after the season ended but that is not a problem.

"We are happy to take at least the year option and we are hoping to do an extra year on top of that and we think that we will be speaking to the agent soon."
