Aston Villa Old Stars booster for Acorns
ASTON Villa Old Stars kick-off a three-match programme to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice tomorrow.
Villa legends, including European Cup and League title winners, will join more recent stars like Mark Kinsella, Garry Parker, Steve Staunton, Mark Walters and Tony Daley.
The Old Stars will face:
* Team Lewis XI at Studley Football Club, Sunday September 14 (ko 2.30pm).
* Bromsgrove School Dads XI, Sunday September 28 (ko 2.30pm) at Studley Football Club.
* Wake Green Amateurs, on Sunday October 12 (ko 2.30pm) at Wake Green Amateurs Football Club.
Admission to each game is by match programme available in advance from each venue or on the day.
Neil Rioch, chairman of Aston Villa Former Players Association said: “The Old Stars have played matches in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice for many years but given the very strong links Acorns now has with the club, it is particularly pleasing to be playing three games for them this year. Our new team manager Chris Nicholl is having a fantastic first season in charge with 14 wins in 14 games so far with the team scoring 85 goals and conceding just 13.
“The calibre of the team is as strong as ever, which is why we’ve been able to attract another full fixture list for the 49th consecutive year.”
