Support for Young after miss
Nov 17 2008 by Bill Howell, Birmingham Mail
“I was disappointed with the miss,’’ said Young.
“The rules are that Gareth couldn’t take it as he had left the field of play.
“I had got fouled and I had the confidence to step up and take it.
“Unfortunately it didn’t go in but I had to move on from there and get my head around it.”
Young says a dressing room pep-talk fired him to produce a fine second half performance.
“Everyone was supportive at half-time,’’ he said.
“Things like that happen in football.
“You have just got to get them out of your head and re-focus.
“Thankfully, come the end of the game we had got the three points.
“I said straight away that if there is another opportunity and Gareth is off the pitch I will take one again.
“It is not going to dent my confidence to take another penalty.’’
Young continued: “I just set out to have a good game, as I always do, and do my job.
“I am delighted with the way things have gone for me.
“The club is moving in the right direction.”
