Villa are missing the influence of injured striker John Carew, say stars

JOHN Carew’s continued absence from the Villa team has got his team-mates wishing for his swift return.
The Norwegian striker has started just two of nine games due to a succession of niggling injuries and fatigue which began while he was on international duty prior to the Ajax UEFA Cup tie.
Carew, with five league goals to his name this season, is expected to be out for the next fortnight and Bulgarian Stiliyan Petrov says Villa must just learn to cope.
“You can always do with John Carew, he is a big player for us,’’ he said.
“When you are missing an important player it is difficult.
“You just try to deal with it. It is a long season and we need to cope with it, get round it and start winning again.”
