proved the difference against Fulham.
Villa missed four good headed chances and Young admitted: “Perhaps if a fit John Carew was in there we might have come away with the win.
“It’s a different option when John is on the pitch. Maybe if we had him available he could have come on and made the difference.
“But it was down to us. The chances were there but we didn’t put them away.”
Young, though, is refusing to get too downbeat about the 0-0 draw which eventually saw Villa slip to fifth in the table behind Arsenal.
“Everyone was very disappointed. It felt almost like a defeat. The lads were low after the game because they knew is was an opportunity,’’ he said.
“I don’t think we played particularly poorly, it was just we didn’t score.
“If we had come in and won 1-0 then everyone would be looking at it very differently.
“We are not going to get too down. It was definitely two points lost but we will move on again and now must make sure we pick up some wins.”
