Curtis Davies targets top three spot for Aston Villa

CURTIS Davies believes Villa can not only look to maintain their top-four position, but could also be able to capitalise on the big three’s recent inconsistencies.
Villa are now just seven points behind league leaders Liverpool and are a point clear of fifth-placed Arsenal, who face Rafa Benitez’s side this weekend.
A win at West Ham on Saturday evening and Villa will go third.
“Liverpool are miles ahead but they drew on Saturday, Manchester United drew, and if a few more teams get sucked towards us by us winning then great,’’ said Davies.
‘‘We just have to win, if we do that then it’s down to the rest to slip up.
“If we win next week we will go above United as well with them being out in Tokyo and not having a game.
“We just have to keep looking to ourselves and keep winning games and hopefully we will stay up there.”
Davies feels the seeds of Villa’s fine recent form were sown in their 2-0 win at Arsenal a month ago.
“Our win at the Emirates was the turning point that people started talking about them maybe having gone and that the Wenger years are over,” Davies said.
