We won't play for a draw says Aston Villa's Luke Young
is proof that former club Tottenham were “crazy” to sack Jol.
“He was harshly done-by in getting fired from Spurs,’’ said Young.
‘‘All they’d had was a sloppy start to the season. He did ever so well in the previous seasons.
“He didn’t do a bad a job. He took them as high as they have been in the league for many a year.
“It was harsh he got the sack, it was crazy. But he has gone straight in at Hamburg and proved he is a good coach.
“There will be a few lads in our team who haven’t played for a while, but we all know what we need to do and that’s trying to win a game of football.”
Young says Villa will continue to go about their season in a quiet, unassuming fashion and allowing everyone else to talk the talk.
“What we have tried to do so far is just go along quietly, do our business and win our games and let everybody else talk about the fourth place,” he said.
“There is no hiding from the fact we are where we are in the league. That’s because of how well we have done. The question is ‘can we do it until the end of the season?’. There’s a long way to go.”
Young is expecting a similar game tomorrow to what Villa are up against week-in week-out.
“When you are playing a German side I think it might be more like playing in the Premier League,’’ he said.
“Some of the sides like the Bulgarians and Slovaks kept the ball really well but the Bundesliga is not dissimilar to the Premier League so hopefully it will be an open game.”
