“Whereas as you move up the leagues, even in the Championship, a lot of teams try and play their way out.

“If you’re going to play against direct teams you’ve got to be ready for it, no matter what.

“As a centre-half you need to win your headers whoever you’re playing against, whether they’re coming every 10 minutes or every 10 seconds.

“You need to get on the end of them and hopefully I’ll be able to do that.”
