Ashley Young facing rap from Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill for red card at Sunderland

MARTIN O’Neill is set to speak to Ashley Young tomorrow about his red card against Sunderland.

The Villa boss said he will take some form of “internal discipline” and although he has not gone any further, a set disciplinary code stands in place which will probably lead to a fine.

“I will deal with it internally. He was ill yesterday, he wasn’t here”, said O’Neill. “The best thing for me to do is to speak to Ash face to face.

“It is no major issue. Ash realised that what he did was not correct.”

Meanwhile, Villa have been boosted with the news that John Carew and Wilfred Bouma have joined full training.

Carew is likely to be in the frame to face Portsmouth next week while Bouma is still some weeks away.

“John’s getting there. It’s pretty pleasing,’’ said O’Neill.
