Aston Villa: Martin O'Neill wants to start winning games with style

MARTIN O’Neill has taken great delight in delivering his promise to the Villa faithful when he took the job two-and-a-half years ago: that is to provide a winning team and one that plays with a certain swagger.
Villa are in the midst of their longest unbeaten league run in the top flight since 1910 and have won seven on the bounce away.
O’Neill’s quest now is to get the club nearer to silverware and a win at Goodison Park will take them into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for only the eighth time since 1962.
“I remember when I came into the job, people asked me in interviews ‘what sort of team do you want’?’’ said O’Neill.
‘‘My answer is always a winning team, that goes without saying. That’s everything in the professional game but I also want to win games with a bit of style and panache and with a side going forward.
“I also want the crowd to be looking forward to match day. That’s been so pleasing this season.”
