Aston Villa's Curtis Davies plans to banish Chelsea nightmare

CURTIS Davies is determined to banish Villa’s Stamford Bridge nightmare by setting the record straight against “one of the strongest teams in the world” tomorrow.

Davies suffered more than most with costly mistakes when Chelsea outclassed Villa during a 2-0 victory in October and the centre-half was hauled off at half-time.

But the former Albion defender refused to dwell on an afternoon to forget and has since re-established himself as a regular for Martin O’Neill’s team.

“I know it was a bit of an off day for me but I wasn’t particularly worried about it,” recalled Davies.

“Obviously I came out of the team for a couple of games and I was a bit upset, but that’s football and you need to come back stronger.

“If you melt away they’ll be kicking me out because my performances won’t merit playing for Villa.

“I thought about it that night. I always try to analyse my game with my dad or on my own.

“I know when I’ve done wrong, I know when I’ve done right. I try and adjust to be a better player every game.
