Aston Villa's Curtis Davies plans to banish Chelsea nightmare

“The next day’s a new day because if you think about it too much then you’re never going to succeed.”

During Chelsea’s early-season flourish Davies backed Luiz Felipe Scolari to return the Premier League title to Stamford Bridge.

And although the Blues have been blighted by talk of a crisis, he believes they will once again pose a threat under Guus Hiddink.

The Dutch coach has been drafted in on a temporary basis and Davies has warned Villa to be wary of new manager syndrome.

“At the beginning of the season, after they beat us like that, I tipped them to win the league because I thought they were unbelievable,” added Davies.

“Obviously they’ve had a bit of a blip lately but their strength in depth and quality will always shine through.

“I think the new manager does give them a boost, because certain players who haven’t been involved or feel they should have been playing might get a chance now, so it does breed competition.

“Whatever team Chelsea put out is going to be one of the strongest teams in the world. So it’s going to be hard task”
