Aston Villa: Curtis Davies promises fans a good run of form

Curtis Davies

CURTIS Davies says Villa owe it to the supporters to prove they are top four material as they bid to halt a four-game winless run.

The UEFA Cup defeat to CSKA Moscow came hot on the heels of a defeat to Everton in the FA Cup and defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Davies can understand Martin O’Neill’s decision to field a weakened team in Russia which should give Villa the advantage tomorrow against Stoke City.

“If you’re in the winning habit it just comes naturally. We are strong enough to believe in ourselves and hopefully it will look up for us,” he said.

“There is just one objective for us this season now – finishing in that top four. It’s going to be tough along the way but we have a good bit of leeway at the moment.

“Does it put us under more pressure? Not really, because we have high expectations anyway.”

“If we’re ever going to get close to breaking the top four – I think only one team has managed that in the last eight years – then that’s what the gaffer has decided,” said Davies.
